Membership

The Task Force includes representatives from SCAR Member States and Associated Countries, with participation from the European Commission (DG RTD and DG AGRI).

OVERVIEW

The SCAR Startup & Scaleup Task Force is a short-term initiative supporting the European Commission on the better valorisation of research and innovation (R&I) ideas into business creation, startups and scaleups in agriculture, forestry, rural areas and food systems.

Its work contributes to the development of upcoming EU strategic approache to R&I for agriculture, forestry and rural areas, and to the strategic R&I agenda on food systems.

Purpose

The Task Force aims to understand how R&I results are translated into business creation and market deployment, and to identify the conditions needed to support startups, scaleups and innovative SMEs across Europe.

It responds to a recognised need to strengthen the innovation and investment journey from research through demonstration to full market deployment.

  • Mapping examples of R&I-driven startups and scaleups across Member States;
  • Identifying barriers and enabling factors for innovation uptake;
  • Assessing support instruments and investment pathways;
  • Exploring synergies between EU and national funding mechanisms.
Approach and Output

Approach and Output

The Task Force brings together Member States, Associated Countries and the European Commission to collect case studies, share experience and identify common insights.

It will deliver a concise report providing:

  • Key findings from selected cases;
  • Identification of structural bottlenecks;
  • Targeted recommendations to inform EU R&I strategies.
