SCAR BSW SWG – A new mandate with a new focus
The SCAR Bioeconomy Strategic Working Group started its third mandate in January 2023. In the next two years, the group will focus on identifying R&I needs in three areas:
- Circular and bio-based value chains
- Ecosystem boundaries, security of supply and competing biomass uses
- Unveiling the demand side
The first order of business is a portfolio analysis, that will be conducted by the SCAR Thematical Support Team. The analysis will look into the demand-side, and plans to identify relevant R&I topics. The topics should either focus on sustainable consumption in bioeconomy value chains, or have a specific emphasis on the B2B demand-side. Additionally, a side focus of the portfolio analysis will be on relevant regulatory aspects.
Part one of the portfolio analysis will identify around twelve relevant topics. The key deliverables of these topics will then be analysed during part two of the analysis. This analysis will be used to provide recommendations for future R&I topics in this field.
